Devin Atencio, a 7th grader at Los Alamos Middle School, competed in the New Mexico Junior Wrestling (NMJW) State Tournament Saturday, Feb. 27 in Socorro.
Atencio captured the State Championship Title at the 12 & Under; 95 lb. weight class.
A successful end to a strong season: Atenciao is the undefeated wrestler with the Los Alamos Middle School Hawks, Texas All Star Classic National Champion in El Paso, Texas, and the New Mexico Show Down National Runner Up in Albuquerque. He is the middle son of Emilio and Shirley Atencio and has been wrestling for 10 years.
